Enforcement Directorate Questions Abhishek Banerjee Over School Jobs Scam

The Enforcement Directorate interrogated Abhishek Banerjee, a leader of the All India Trinamool Congress, for nearly 11 hours on June 16, 2026. The questioning focused on an alleged scam involving primary school jobs.

Following the interrogation, Banerjee stated he would continue to cooperate with the government agency. However, he accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of attempting to destabilize regional parties and inciting post-poll violence.

Representatives of the Bharatiya Janata Party responded by emphasizing accountability for corruption. MP Rahul Sinha stated that the party would not intervene in internal Trinamool Congress disputes but maintained that guilt must be punished regardless of rank. MP Ravi Kishan added that those who looted public funds during the last 15 years of governance in Bengal would be held accountable.
