Cockroach Janta Party Threatens Nationwide NEET Protests

Abhijeet Dipke, founder and chief of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), threatened to launch a nationwide agitation if the Indian government continues the legal harassment and witch-hunting of students involved in the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak controversy. Speaking in New Delhi on July 29, Dipke accused the government of using excessive force, specifically citing baton charges on July 20 and the use of pellet guns against students.

The CJP is demanding written confirmation that first information reports (FIRs) against protesters in Delhi and other BJP- or NDA-governed states will be withdrawn. Party spokesperson Saurav Das claimed the central government has failed to provide such assurances despite previous verbal promises. Additionally, the CJP is campaigning for broader education reforms and ₹1 crore in compensation for families of students who committed suicide during the controversy, to which the central government responded by pledging the maximum possible compensation.

Arvind Kejriwal, National Convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, expressed support for the proposed protests and questioned why the government has not honored its promises to drop the FIRs. These developments follow a Supreme Court of India directive for states to release arrested students under 18 who lack criminal records, although the court noted that investigations may still proceed.
