One Nation Establishes Headquarters in Gina Rinehart Building
One Nation is establishing its national headquarters in a Brisbane office building purchased by mining billionaire Gina Rinehart.
The minor political party One Nation is establishing its national headquarters in a three-storey office building in Spring Hill, Brisbane. The property was purchased for an estimated $8 million by Hanrine, a property investment company owned by mining billionaire Gina Rinehart.
One Nation MP Barnaby Joyce stated the party will lease the space at commercial market rates to avoid conflicts of interest. A spokesperson for Rinehart's Hancock Prospecting confirmed the company does not provide free or discounted space to any political tenants.
The arrangement follows reports of close ties between Rinehart and party leader Pauline Hanson. These ties include Hanson's use of Rinehart's personal security and undeclared flights provided by Hancock Prospecting for trips to Florida. Hanson has described Rinehart as a friend and an unofficial policy adviser, specifically attributing her policy on pensioner work hours to Rinehart's influence.
