Arizona and Oregon Residents Address Local Governance and Policy
Residents in Arizona and Oregon used public forums to criticize federal agency policies and debate local infrastructure and election candidates.
Citizens in Yuma, Arizona, and Yamhill County, Oregon, utilized letters to the editor in late October 2026 to voice concerns over federal policy and local governance. In Yuma, residents criticized United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement for rejecting a proposal to implement automatically activating body cameras for its officers. Other local concerns included the spread of brown wood rot disease among citrus trees and dissatisfaction with media coverage of the presidency.
In Yamhill County, voters remained divided over Measure 36-241, which proposes the construction of the Yamhelas Trail. Opponents of the project cited property rights and high costs, while supporters argued the trail is necessary for regional recreation.
Simultaneously, residents of McMinnville campaigned for City Council Ward 3 candidates, including Carson Benner, Richard Smith Savage, and Katie Russ. Local efforts also focused on the retention of Yamhill County Clerk Keri Hinton.
