VinSpace Partners With SpaceX For 2027 Satellite Launch

VinSpace Joint Stock Co. signed an agreement with SpaceX to launch its first satellites in 2027 via a Transporter rideshare mission.

VinSpace Joint Stock Co. signed an agreement with Space Exploration Technologies Corp. to launch its first satellites in 2027. The satellites will be deployed using a SpaceX Transporter rideshare mission, with VinSpace managing the research, development, manufacturing, and on-orbit operations.

Founded by billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, who holds a 71% stake in the company, VinSpace is a unit of Vingroup. The venture aims to demonstrate in-house technologies and build domestic engineering capabilities within Vietnam. This initiative supports a broader government goal to develop a domestic space industry and improve technological self-reliance to help the country become a high-income nation by 2045.

While the contract value and specific satellite details were not disclosed, the project faces significant hurdles. These include high capital costs and a shortage of skilled talent within the nascent Vietnamese commercial space sector. The effort follows a 2021 government decision to develop satellite technology and ground infrastructure by 2030.
