Hyundai Recalls 94,622 Vehicles Over Power Seat Fire Risk

Hyundai Motor America is recalling nearly 95,000 vehicles in the United States due to overheating front power seat motors that pose a fire risk.

Hyundai Motor America is recalling 94,622 vehicles in the United States because of a fire risk linked to overheating front power seat motors. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced the action on Thursday, noting that a stuck power seat control switch can cause motors to overheat, potentially sparking a fire while the vehicle is parked or in motion.

The recall affects specific 2015-2016 Hyundai Genesis and 2017-2020 Genesis G80 models. As a precaution, Hyundai has advised affected owners to park their vehicles outdoors and away from other structures or vehicles until the defect is fixed.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated that the remedy for the defect is currently under development.
