Israeli Settlers Kill Palestinian Man in West Bank Raid

Israeli settlers shot and killed 51-year-old Mashhour Yassin and injured another man during a raid on the West Bank village of Yasuf on Thursday. Jumaa Abdel Fattah, the mayor of Yasuf, reported that dozens of settlers armed with firearms and sticks attacked village homes. The assailants reportedly originated from the Havat Anton settlement outpost, which was established in July.

Accounts of the Israeli military's role in the incident conflict. The Israeli military stated it is examining the event, but Palestinian officials and medical sources claim that Israeli soldiers fired live ammunition, wounding two residents and detaining several others. These sources further alleged that soldiers obstructed ambulances and medical teams from reaching the wounded.

The attack occurs as the government of Benjamin Netanyahu faces international criticism for accelerated settlement expansion and the downplaying of settler violence. The United Nations and most countries consider the expansion of outposts in the occupied West Bank illegal under international law.
