Ontario Schedules 156 Highway Closures Across Three Regions

The Province of Ontario scheduled a series of extensive roadwork closures across three provincial regions on July 25 and July 26, 2026, to facilitate infrastructure maintenance.

On July 25, 106 closures occurred in the Durham and Peel regions. Durham saw 61 closures affecting Highways 401, 407 ETR, 412, 7, 12, and 35/115, including 15-minute full closures of Highway 401 in Oshawa supported by the Ontario Provincial Police. In Peel, 45 closures impacted Highways 401, 403, 410, 9, 10, and the Queen Elizabeth Way, with activity concentrated in Mississauga, Brampton, and Caledon.

The following day, July 26, an additional 50 closures were implemented in the Peel and Niagara regions. Peel continued to see activity on Highways 401, 403, 410, 9, 10, and the Queen Elizabeth Way with 28 specific closures. In Niagara, 22 closures affected the Queen Elizabeth Way, Highway 58, Highway 420, and East Main Street Welland. Some projects in the Niagara region, affecting areas such as Niagara Falls and St. Catharines, began in April 2026 and are expected to continue through late August.
