Amazon and Alphabet Hold Significant Investment Stakes in Anthropic

Anthropic maintains private ownership while receiving strategic investments from two major cloud providers. Amazon.com, Inc. owns approximately 18% of the generative AI company, and Alphabet Inc. holds a stake of about 14%. These ownership percentages remain unconfirmed until the company undergoes an initial public offering.

The investment rounds were primarily structured in exchange for cloud computing resources provided by Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud. To train and run its models, including the Claude Mythos model, Anthropic utilizes a combination of Nvidia GPUs and custom AI chips from both Alphabet and Amazon.

This dual-provider strategy is designed to protect the AI company from the pricing power of any single cloud service provider. For public investors, these stakes in Alphabet and Amazon offer a secondary method of gaining exposure to Anthropic before it enters the public market.
