Tesco and Sainsbury's Issue Urgent Product Recalls
Tesco is recalling glass mugs due to breakage risks, while Sainsbury's and Argos are recalling Tu range tote bags over chemical safety concerns.
Two major UK retailers have issued urgent product recalls due to safety and health concerns. Tesco PLC is recalling all batches of its F&F Home Glass Latte Mug sold between September 2025 and August 2026 across the United Kingdom and Ireland. The company stated the recall is due to a manufacturing issue that may cause the glass to break during normal use, posing a risk of injury. Customers are advised to stop using the mugs and return them to any store for a full refund without a receipt.
Simultaneously, J Sainsbury PLC and Argos have recalled three tote bags from the Tu range: the Tu Pu Tan Curved Top Shopper, the Tu Black Croc Winged Tote Bag, and the Tu Brown Belt Handled Core Shopper. The retailers found that these products contain excessive concentrations of phthalates, which they stated pose a chemical safety risk. The companies noted that prolonged exposure to these chemicals may be harmful to human health, with a particular risk to children. Affected customers are asked to return the bags to local Sainsbury's stores for a full refund.
