One Nation Party Regains Lead in Australian Opinion Poll
The far-right One Nation party has overtaken Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's Labor party in a national poll amid rising inflation and interest rates.
The far-right One Nation party has regained the lead in a national opinion poll, securing 28 percent support. This shift comes as the Labor party, led by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, saw its support decline to 27 percent. A Newspoll of 1,200 voters also showed a slight increase in support for the conservative coalition, which now stands at 21 percent.
Economic instability is driving the change in voter sentiment. Australia is facing elevated inflation and falling house prices, while surging fuel costs linked to the US-Iran war have added further pressure. The Reserve Bank of Australia is expected to implement its fifth interest rate hike of the year to combat these inflationary trends.
Despite the party's lead, net approval ratings for political leaders remain negative. Anthony Albanese holds the lowest rating at minus-23, followed by opposition leader Angus Taylor at minus-10 and One Nation leader Pauline Hanson at minus-1.
