Iran Launches Operation True Promise 4 Against US Bases

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched coordinated missile and drone strikes on eight United States military installations across the Persian Gulf to degrade regional power projection.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched Operation True Promise 4 on June 28, 2026, executing a coordinated campaign of ballistic missiles and kamikaze drones against eight United States military installations. The strikes targeted command-and-control centers, logistics hubs, and air defense sensors across Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. Key losses include the $1.1 billion AN/FPS-132 early-warning radar at Al-Udeid Air Base and the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain.

Iranian forces focused on strategic blinding by targeting electrical substations and radar radomes to disrupt long-term American power projection in West Asia. The IRGC characterized the operation as a decisive response to US Central Command airstrikes on five Iranian coastal outposts, including a telecommunications tower in Hormozgan province. US Central Command stated its own strikes were retaliation for an attack on a commercial oil tanker.

The escalation follows a maritime confrontation in the Strait of Hormuz and a breach of a ceasefire established on April 7. The IRGC claims these US actions violated the Islamabad agreement and warned that further aggression would be met with a crushing response.
