Jitendra Singh Calls for Comprehensive Pension Regulation Review

Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Dr. Jitendra Singh called for a comprehensive review of pension regulations during the 2nd National Workshop on Pension Litigation in New Delhi on July 20, 2026. Singh argued that outdated rules failing to keep pace with social realities drive recurring legal disputes, stating that "Recurring litigation often indicates that certain rules require reconsideration."

To establish a "zero-litigation pension ecosystem," Singh advocated for proactive policy reforms and simplified rules. During the workshop, he launched Special Campaign 3.0, a flyer on pension litigation, and the Compendium of Case Laws on Pension Litigation. He highlighted the simplification of eligibility for separated daughters as a successful example of creating more inclusive policies.

The Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare reported that litigation cases declined by nearly 20 percent over the past year. Additionally, the agency noted that the CPENGRAMS portal has reduced the average time to dispose of grievances to under 20 days.
