Houthi Missile Strikes Hit Yemen Ports and Military Camps

The Houthi group launched a series of ballistic missile and drone strikes between August 10 and August 12, 2026, targeting military infrastructure in Yemen. The operations focused on the coastal city of Mokha and the Tadawin military camp in Marib governorate, where the group targeted weapons depots and command centers. On Wednesday, two ballistic missiles struck a maritime pier and port facilities in Mokha.

Casualties from the escalation include at least eight deaths. While Houthi spokesperson Yahya Sarea claimed the strikes hit Saudi military personnel and equipment, the Yemeni Coast Guard reported that the commercial vessel Tihamah was hit in the Bab al-Mandab Strait, killing six crew members, including three Pakistanis and one Indonesian. Additional strikes in the Bayhan district of Shabwah Province killed at least two militants.

In response, Saudi military units shelled the Bani Ma'ain area in Sa’ada Province. The Government of Saudi Arabia has denied having forces inside Yemen, maintaining its role is limited to border security. These attacks follow a maritime blockade imposed by the Sana’a government on July 20 and threaten the relative stability established by a 2022 United Nations-brokered truce.
