Cue Clothing Co Enters Administration and Closes Five Stores

Cue Clothing Co, the Sydney-based operator of premium womenswear brands Cue and Veronika Maine, entered voluntary administration and receivership on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. The 58-year-old business, which operates approximately 50 stores across Australia and New Zealand, collapsed after mounting overhead costs overwhelmed the company despite a sales increase to $103.2 million in the 2025 financial year. The company reported a $5.1 million loss for that period.

FTI Consulting directors Kate Warwick and Vaughan Strawbridge were appointed as receivers, while BDO restructuring leaders Duncan Clubb and Shaun McKinnon were appointed as voluntary administrators. On Friday, September 18, the administrators announced the closure of five stores: four Cue boutiques in Melbourne central, Parramatta, Woden, and Armadale, and one Veronika Maine store in Mosman. The group continues to trade through its remaining boutiques and partnerships with Myer and David Jones while administrators seek a buyer, with expressions of interest due in early October.

The collapse follows a period of leadership instability, including the resignations of chairman Eric Morris in June and the departures of CEO Melanie Remai and CFO Josephine Barbaro. The business had been sold by founder Rod Levis to British investor Hilco Capital in April 2025. FTI Consulting noted that while sales and other internal improvements occurred, they were "insufficient to mitigate the impact of overhead costs currently in the business."
