Maqbool Ahmed Channa Raises Pakistan Human Rights Concerns at UN

Human rights activist Maqbool Ahmed Channa presented several urgent human rights cases in Pakistan during the General Debate of the 63rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council on September 23, 2026.

Channa highlighted the lack of resolution in the 1996 killing of Shaheed Mir Murtaza Bhutto and six companions, the kidnapping of seven-year-old Priya Kumari, and the trial regarding the death of Dr. Shahnawaz Kunbhar in Tharparkar, Sindh. He also alleged that human rights advocate Imaan Mazari received a sentence within seven days due to her support for Baloch rights activist Mahrang Baloch.

During his intervention, Channa argued that accountability for victims is essential for stability, stating that "without justice, there's no peace."
