Bomb Threats Divert Four European Flights on Tuesday
LOT Polish Airlines and three other flights made emergency landings across Europe on Tuesday following a series of suspected bomb threats.
A series of suspected bomb threats targeted four European flights on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. LOT Polish Airlines flight LO286, a Boeing 737 MAX 8 traveling from London Heathrow to Warsaw Chopin Airport with 181 passengers, was diverted to Warsaw Modlin Airport. The aircraft landed at 10:01 a.m. local time, prompting authorities to temporarily close the airport while bomb disposal experts inspected the plane and passenger luggage.
Simultaneously, three other flights faced similar security alerts. An SAS flight from Copenhagen to Warsaw landed at Chopin Airport, a Ryanair flight from Manchester to Murcia, Spain, landed for checks, and a flight from Israel landed in Sofia, Bulgaria, following an email threat. Warsaw Modlin Airport later announced that operations had resumed after the threat was verified.
These incidents follow a similar event on Monday, when a Wizz Air flight from London Luton to Sofia was escorted by Hungarian Gripen fighter jets to Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport. Security checks on that aircraft found nothing suspicious. No group has claimed responsibility for the Tuesday threats, which occur amid heightened security concerns regarding hybrid threats to European infrastructure.
