Apple Releases Software Betas Ahead of iPhone Duo Launch

Apple released a series of software updates between September 21 and September 23, 2026, to prepare for the upcoming launch of the iPhone Duo on October 23. The company first issued the Xcode 27.1 beta, which provides developers with updated software development kits and a simulator designed to support the iPhone Duo's specific poses and orientations. This tool requires Apple silicon Macs running macOS 26.6 or later.

Following the developer tools update, the company released the first public beta of macOS 27.2 Golden Gate on September 23. Apple skipped the macOS 27.1 beta cycle, a versioning shift likely intended to align with the iPhone Duo's shipping software, iOS 27.1.

The macOS 27.2 public beta, build 26B5091g, is identical to the second developer beta. Its primary update is the expansion of Siri AI language support, adding French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish to the existing English support.
