Impulse Space Raises $308 Million to Expand Redondo Beach Operations

Impulse Space raised $308 million on Wednesday as an extension of its Series D funding round, bringing the total for that round to $808 million. The investment increases the spacecraft company's valuation to $5.6 billion, up from $4.26 billion in June.

The company is using the capital to support a major hiring push and expand its physical footprint in Redondo Beach, California. Impulse Space has moved into a 250,000-square-foot facility at 2425 Manhattan Beach Blvd, a former Northrop Grumman property. This site will eventually house manufacturing work currently conducted at the company's headquarters.

Founded in 2021 by Tom Mueller, the company develops propulsion systems and spacecraft platforms, including Mira and Helios. Impulse Space also recently expanded its government presence by securing a National Security Space Launch Phase 3 Lane 1 contract from the United States Space Force Space Systems Command.
