Congress Sweeps Jaipur Repolls and Camps Councillors in Ajmer

The Indian National Congress won all four wards where repolling was conducted in the Jaipur Municipal Corporation elections, securing seats in wards 9, 18, 25, and 34. This sweep increased the party's total to 57 seats, though the Bharatiya Janata Party retains a majority with 78 of the 150 seats. The State Election Commission had ordered the repolls in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, and Suket after determining that technical glitches in electronic voting machines affected vote margins.

Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma of misusing administrative power and the Election Commission to manipulate results. Dotasra claimed the repolling proved the BJP attempted to steal the people's mandate through technical excuses.

Simultaneously, the Congress party moved 37 of its councillors and five Independent councillors to Bengaluru to maintain unity before the Ajmer Municipal Corporation mayoral election on September 21. Led by former RTDC Chairman Dharmendra Rathore, the group of 42 councillors is camping to prevent poaching attempts by the BJP. The mayoral contest will be a direct race between Congress nominee Kiran Garhwal and BJP nominee Anamika Sharma, with 41 votes required for victory in the 80-ward corporation.
