United States and Iran Exchange Airstrikes Across Middle East

The Federal government of the United States launched a series of airstrikes on Iranian targets, ending a six-month economic standoff and resuming active military hostilities. Iran responded with counterstrikes targeting American interests in Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, and Iraq.

In Kuhestak, Iran, the Iranian Red Crescent Society reported that a U.S. missile strike hit a wedding celebration, killing four people, including a child, and injuring more than 50 others. The United States Central Command denied targeting civilians during the operation.

The escalation coincides with reports of deteriorating living conditions and poor mental health among crew members aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln. The aircraft carrier recently arrived at a Thai port after 270 days at sea as part of the conflict.
