Molly Gray Wins Vermont Democratic Lieutenant Governor Primary

Molly Gray won the Democratic primary for Lieutenant Governor of Vermont on Tuesday, securing approximately 61% of the vote. She defeated fellow candidates Ryan McLaren, who received 27%, and Esther Charlestin, who received 11%.

Gray previously served as lieutenant governor from 2021 to 2023 and recently worked as the executive director of the Vermont Afghan Alliance. Her campaign focused on universal primary medical care, supporting working families, and land-use reforms to address housing. Following her victory, Gray emphasized the necessity of resisting federal overreach.

Incumbent Republican Lieutenant Governor John Rodgers responded to the results by stating his commitment to putting people before politics. He will face Gray in the general election this November. Opponents Ryan McLaren and Esther Charlestin both expressed support for Gray following the primary results.
