Governor Adeleke Declares Public Holiday for Voter Card Collection

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke declared Tuesday, July 28, 2026, a public holiday and work-free day for all state public servants to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). The directive, conveyed by Head of Service Ayanleye Aina, includes employees of local governments and tertiary institutions to ensure they can fulfill civic obligations before the collection window closes.

To maintain stability, the governor advised personnel in essential services, including healthcare and security workers, to coordinate internal schedules for uninterrupted service delivery. This measure comes as the state prepares for the governorship election on August 15, 2026.

Adeleke, representing the Accord Party, is seeking re-election and faces challengers including Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress and Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress. The Independent National Electoral Commission has cleared 14 political parties to participate in the upcoming contest.
