Meta Hires MongoDB CEO to Lead New Enterprise Platform

Meta Platforms hired CJ Desai, the CEO of MongoDB, to serve as its chief enterprise platform officer. Reporting directly to CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Desai will lead the newly created Meta Enterprise Platform, a division focused on developing business tools such as the Muse agent and specialized coding tools.

This leadership move signals a strategic pivot by Meta toward AI infrastructure and enterprise tools. The transition follows strong consumer demand for the Muse personal AI assistant, which recently surpassed OpenAI's ChatGPT as the top free iOS app.

Following the announcement, MongoDB shares fell 24%. The MongoDB board appointed Dev Ittycheria as interim president and CEO. Ittycheria previously held the chief executive role for 11 years before Desai succeeded him in November 2025.
