Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi conducted a series of diplomatic visits to Sweden and Finland between July 4 and July 7, 2026, to stabilize regional relations and promote technological cooperation. In Stockholm on July 4, Wang Yi met with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson to address recent difficulties in China-Sweden relations. He emphasized the necessity of rebuilding mutual trust and maintaining a correct perception of one another to place the relationship on a sustainable track. Prime Minister Kristersson reaffirmed Sweden's adherence to the one-China policy and expressed a desire to broaden consensus across various fields.

Following the Swedish leg of his trip, Wang Yi traveled to Finland on July 5. In Turku, he met with President Alexander Stubb, who praised China's role in international stability and proposed expanding collaboration in artificial intelligence and the green economy. Wang Yi responded by reaffirming China's commitment to a future-oriented cooperative partnership.

In Helsinki, Wang Yi held further talks with Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen. The two officials discussed a Joint Action Plan focusing on scientific innovation, healthcare, and the digital economy. Wang Yi urged that European trade and investment mechanisms not be used for unilateral pressure, while Minister Valtonen reaffirmed Finland's commitment to the one-China policy and coordinated on addressing global challenges through the United Nations.
