Houthis Launch Ballistic Missile Attack on Marib

The Houthi group launched three ballistic missiles into neighborhoods of the government-held city of Marib on the evening of August 15, 2026. The state-run Saba TV channel reported that residents heard loud explosions, though no immediate casualties or property damage were confirmed. The Houthi group has not issued a comment regarding the strike.

This attack occurs amid a broader escalation of Houthi missile and drone strikes targeting government-held areas in Yemen and facilities in Saudi Arabia. Recent targets have included energy infrastructure and oil tankers in the Red Sea, following a maritime ban announced on July 20.

Yemen has been embroiled in conflict since 2014. While a UN-brokered truce expired in late 2022, a de facto ceasefire had largely remained in place until the current increase in hostilities.
