Saskatchewan Launches Review of Farm Security Act
The Government of Saskatchewan is conducting a public consultation to review farmland ownership and protection laws through a survey open until November 30.
The Government of Saskatchewan has launched a public consultation process to conduct a comprehensive review of The Saskatchewan Farm Security Act. Agriculture Minister David Marit announced that the province is seeking input from producers and residents via an online survey to determine if the current legislative framework remains effective.
The review focuses on three primary areas: farmland ownership, home quarter protection, and farm foreclosure protections. Marit stated that the government wants to ensure the laws governing these assets continue to meet the needs of the province's people.
The survey is available on the official provincial website and will remain open for submissions until November 30, 2026. The government intends to use the resulting data to inform potential legislative changes to the Act.
