Merlins Beverages Opens EUR 50 Million Romanian Production Factory
Merlins Beverages completed a new EUR 50 million production facility in Romania to increase its regional soft drink market share.
Merlins Beverages completed the construction of a new production factory representing an investment of approximately EUR 50 million, including VAT. The facility is equipped with two Krones production lines for dose and aseptic PET, enabling the company to scale output for its core brands, including Vitamin Aqua, Lemonade, Plafar, and Pop Cola.
The project was realized with state aid provided through a scheme managed by the Romanian Ministry of Economy. This expansion follows a period of significant growth for the company, which reported a turnover exceeding EUR 26 million in 2025. Founded in 2011 by Ruxandra and Alexandru Melcovich, the firm previously utilized European funds for its initial investments to establish its presence in the beverage sector.
Company representatives stated that these new production capacities allow the firm to enter a new stage of development and move into the ranking of top regional soft drinks market players. By integrating high-capacity Krones technology, the firm intends to challenge established competitors through increased volume and diverse packaging options.
The investment signals a strategic shift for the producer, transitioning from a medium-sized operation to a major regional competitor. This capacity increase is expected to enhance the company's distribution reach and competitiveness within the broader Romanian and regional soft drink markets.
