Sonia Gandhi Announces Release of Personal Memoir in India

Sonia Gandhi announced the November 10 release of her memoir, Belonging: A Journey of Love, published by HarperCollins India.

Congress leader Sonia Gandhi announced the India release of her memoir, Belonging: A Journey of Love, scheduled for November 10. Published by HarperCollins India, the book follows a publication impasse with Penguin Random House India.

Gandhi characterized the work as a personal rather than political account, stating, "This is not a political book, it’s a personal one." She noted that she "wanted to portray them honestly, as people I knew and loved," focusing on her family's motivations, struggles, and human flaws.

The memoir details her life from meeting Rajiv Gandhi in England to her entry into Indian politics following the assassinations of Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. It also covers the death of Sanjay Gandhi and the 2004 elections, during which Gandhi declined the premiership to lead the Congress party and its alliance.
