Israeli Strikes Kill Hundreds in Gaza Despite 2025 Ceasefire

The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported on September 15, 2026, that the death toll in the Gaza Strip has reached 73,789, with 174,798 injuries since the conflict began in October 2023. Despite a ceasefire agreement that took effect in October 2025, the ministry states that 1,375 Palestinians have been killed and 4,686 injured due to continued Israeli military violations.

Recent operations by the Israeli military included drone and aircraft strikes targeting tents for displaced families, schools, and civilians in Gaza City, Khan Younis, and Rafah. One strike on a school sheltering displaced families killed six people, including UN workers. The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor documented a pattern of deliberate killings, noting that quadcopter drones have killed at least 60 civilians since the ceasefire began.

International agencies have expressed deep concern over the humanitarian crisis. UNICEF reported the deaths of nine children in a single week, while the director of Al-Shifa Medical Complex warned that fuel and maintenance shortages are threatening hospital generators. Simultaneously, UN peacekeepers in Lebanon reported Israeli drone activity and the detention of a UNIFIL patrol.

Infrastructure destruction in the enclave is estimated at 90 percent. The International Committee of the Red Cross noted it has been unable to visit Palestinian detainees in Israeli custody since October 7, 2023, though it has facilitated the return of over 3,400 detainees under ceasefire terms.
