Ireland Fuel Prices Surge in September 2026

The Central Statistics Office reported significant price increases for fuel and home heating oil in Ireland for September 2026. Diesel prices rose by 5.4% and petrol by 4.8% compared to August 2026, while home heating oil increased by 7.2%.

On an annual basis, diesel and petrol prices rose by 22% and 14% respectively since September 2025. This represents the largest annual increase for petrol since May 2024. Home heating oil experienced a sharp annual rise of 58.6%, reaching its highest price level since the agency began publishing detailed sub-indices in November 1996.

These fuel costs contributed significantly to the overall Consumer Price Index, which increased by 0.2% in September and 4.1% over the preceding 12 months.
