Adeleke and Oyebamiji Trade Accusations Over Illegal PVC Purchases

Governor Ademola Adeleke and APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji accused each other of illegally purchasing voter cards ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.

Governor Ademola Adeleke and All Progressives Congress candidate Bola Oyebamiji traded accusations on Thursday regarding the illegal purchase of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State. Adeleke accused the APC of conducting a coordinated operation to buy PVCs and extract Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) to disenfranchise voters, specifically targeting regions with strong Accord Party support.

Adeleke described these activities as criminal breaches of the electoral act and called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to investigate possible insider collusion within the operation. He warned residents that the APC intends to stop them from voting and urged them not to sell their cards.

Bola Oyebamiji denied the allegations and countered that individuals linked to the current administration are indirectly buying PVCs. He claimed these actors are offering money to young people under the guise of providing appointment letters. Both candidates ultimately urged residents to safeguard their cards and resist monetary inducements to protect their democratic rights.
