Singapore Advises Citizens to Postpone Saudi Arabia Pilgrimages
The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore urged citizens to postpone umrah pilgrimages following missile and drone attacks on Saudi airports and infrastructure.
The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) has advised Singaporeans to postpone umrah pilgrimages to Saudi Arabia. This guidance follows a travel advisory issued by the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs on October 13, 2026, citing heightened security risks across the kingdom.
Recent missile and drone attacks have targeted several Saudi airports, including Abha, Dammam, Khamis Mushait, Najran, and Jizan. Attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh have been particularly severe, resulting in at least 18 deaths and more than 300 injuries, which led to operational suspensions and frequent airspace closures. Additionally, a missile strike on a Saudi Aramco administrative building in Dhahran on Tuesday night caused a limited fire.
MUIS is urging travel agents to offer flexible rescheduling options for pilgrims to mitigate financial losses. Singaporeans currently in Saudi Arabia are advised to register with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for consular assistance, follow local advisories, and avoid high-risk areas.
