Romania Job Openings Fall to 26,500 in Second Quarter

The National Institute of Statistics and Geography reported that job openings in Romania fell to 26,500 during the second quarter of 2026. This figure represents a decrease of 1,800 positions from the first quarter of the year and a decline of 4,900 compared to the second quarter of 2025. The overall job vacancy rate dropped to 0.52%.
Manufacturing recorded the highest volume of available positions with 5,600 openings. The public sector accounted for more than 19% of all vacancies, with the majority of those roles concentrated in public administration, social assistance, and health care.
Sector-specific vacancy rates varied significantly. The production and supply of electricity, gas, heat, and air conditioning saw the highest vacancy rate at 1.41%, while the mining and quarrying industry recorded the lowest at 0.16%. Although most occupational groups experienced declines, the transportation and warehousing sector saw a slight increase of 300 job openings.
