Israeli Strikes Kill Eight Palestinians as Gaza Ceasefire Stalls
Israeli military strikes killed eight Palestinians in Gaza on November 1, as disputes over disarmament and troop withdrawals continue to stall a year-old ceasefire.
Israeli military strikes killed at least eight Palestinians in the Gaza Strip on November 1, 2026. In southern Gaza, a drone attack in al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis, killed five people, including police officers. In northern Gaza, a drone strike in the Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City killed three people, including a four-year-old boy, and targeted the Taj Mall.
Israeli Security Forces stated the operations targeted militants and a terrorist in southern Gaza, accusing Hamas of rearming and violating a US-brokered ceasefire established in October 2025. Hamas denied these claims and condemned the strikes as a "deliberate war crime," accusing Israel of attempting to sow chaos and obstruct recovery efforts.
The conflict continues to cause heavy casualties despite the stalled ceasefire. Health officials report that at least 1,500 Palestinians have died since the ceasefire took effect last October. The total death toll from Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip has risen to 74,594 since October 7, 2023, with 175,834 people injured. Rescue crews report that many victims remain trapped under rubble or on roads, inaccessible to ambulances.
