TSMC Evaluates Texas Expansion to Boost U.S. Chip Production

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company is considering a new investment in Texas to complement its existing $265 billion commitment to Arizona.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company is evaluating a potential investment in Texas to expand its semiconductor production within the United States. This prospective move would build upon the company's existing $265 billion commitment to Arizona, where it plans to establish an R&D center and 12 fabrication and advanced packaging facilities.

The potential Texas expansion follows a July announcement that increased the Arizona investment by $100 billion. Chief Executive C.C. Wei indicated that "probably additional four or more fabs will be built" as part of the company's growth strategy. While the company declined to comment specifically on the Texas reports, Chief Financial Officer Wendell Huang previously confirmed that the firm would continue to invest in the U.S.
