Morgan Stanley Launches Spot Ethereum and Solana ETFs
Morgan Stanley launched two spot cryptocurrency ETFs for Ethereum and Solana on July 28, providing investors with low-cost exposure and staking reward distributions.
Morgan Stanley launched two new spot cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds on July 28, 2026, on the NYSE Arca: the Morgan Stanley Ethereum Trust (MSSE) and the Morgan Stanley Solana Trust (MSOL). Both funds feature a low expense ratio of 14 basis points and provide direct price exposure to their respective assets. A primary feature of these trusts is the distribution of staking rewards, with approximately 95% of network yields returned to shareholders. MSSE intends to stake between 50% and 80% of its ether holdings, while MSOL plans to stake 100% of its solana holdings.
These offerings expand the firm's digital asset lineup following the success of the Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust (MSBT), which reached approximately $400 million in assets during its first four months after an April launch. The Ethereum Trust utilizes the CoinDesk Ether Benchmark 4PM NY Settlement Rate to track performance and employs The Bank of New York Mellon and Coinbase Custody Trust Company as custodians.
To drive adoption, the firm is leveraging its network of 16,000 wealth advisors and its E*TRADE retail platform. Amy Oldenburg, head of digital asset strategy, stated that the firm is focused on providing solutions that allow investors to diversify across traditional and decentralized asset classes while maintaining standards for governance and risk management.
