China and Zimbabwe Deepen Economic and Trade Ties
China and Zimbabwe reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral trade and investment during a joint commission session in Harare.
The Government of Zimbabwe and the Government of China reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral economic and trade ties during the 11th Session of the Joint Commission on Economic, Technical and Trade Cooperation in Harare on August 26, 2026. Co-chaired by Zimbabwean Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Amon Murwira and Chinese Assistant Minister of Commerce Zhang Li, the session focused on converting bilateral agreements into tangible investment, job creation, and value addition.
Both nations agreed to implement 10 partnership actions established during the 2024 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. They also pledged to accelerate negotiations regarding the Economic Partnership for Shared Development agreement.
Key priorities for the partnership include upgrading the mining industrial chain in Zimbabwe and expanding exports to Chinese markets. This effort follows the successful delivery of Zimbabwe's first blueberry consignment to China in July. China pledged to encourage enterprise investment in Zimbabwe and provide zero-tariff treatment for 53 African countries.
