Intel Stock Surges 241 Percent Amid Government Backing
Intel stock outperformed Nvidia over the past year as investors bet on a foundry expansion and a 10 percent stake taken by the United States government.
Intel saw its stock price increase 241 percent over the last 12 months, significantly outpacing a 76 percent gain by Nvidia during the same period. The surge comes despite a period of financial decline where net income dropped from a peak of 20 billion dollars to breakeven in 2025.
Investors are betting on a corporate rebound fueled by a 10 percent stake taken by the United States government last year. Intel is currently expanding its foundry business to manufacture chips for third parties, targeting potential partnerships with companies including Amazon, Microsoft, SpaceX, Tesla, and Nvidia.
Meanwhile, Nvidia continues to report massive growth, with revenue reaching 216 billion dollars and net income hitting 120 billion dollars. However, Nvidia faces rising competition as customers increasingly develop homegrown chips via Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, which remains a primary competitor to Intel's foundry ambitions.
