Poll Shows 55% of Voters Concerned Over Democratic Socialists
A new poll indicates over half of American voters are concerned about Democratic Socialist candidates winning elected office as internal party tensions rise.
A Center Square Voters’ Voice poll conducted from October 5-7 reveals that 55% of American voters are concerned about Democratic Socialist candidates winning elected office. Of those surveyed, 35% are very concerned and 20% are somewhat concerned, while 37% express no concern. The data shows that 49% of Democratic voters specifically share concerns regarding the rise of socialism or communism.
These findings follow reports from the Democratic Socialists of America, which noted 67 wins among 93 candidates, though 62 of their candidates have lost. The trend has sparked internal friction within the Democratic Party.
John Fetterman, a U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania, criticized the shift toward socialism as "lunacy" and described himself as a "proud free-market capitalist." Additionally, Democratic strategist James Carville urged the Democratic Socialists of America to remove the word Democratic from their name to distance the broader party from leftist policies.
