Israel Defense Forces Deletes AI Video on Draft Evasion
The Israel Defense Forces removed an AI-generated video that provided instructions to ultra-Orthodox draft evaders on avoiding arrest at Ben Gurion Airport.
The Israel Defense Forces deleted an AI-generated video from its official haredi-oriented Instagram channel after critics accused the military of providing an instruction manual for draft evaders. The video featured a character called Dudi the Explainer, who advised ultra-Orthodox men to visit recruitment centers with medical documents to resolve their draft status and lift travel bans.
This process is frequently used by men traveling to Uman, Ukraine, for the annual Rosh Hashanah pilgrimage to avoid detention at Ben Gurion Airport. The IDF Spokesperson's Unit stated the video was published in violation of directives regarding content during the election period and does not reflect military policy.
While the military maintained the video's purpose was to explain the process of formalizing status to lead to enlistment and meaningful service, it confirmed the incident will be investigated.
