Maura Healey Leads Massachusetts Gubernatorial Poll by 25 Points

Governor Maura Healey holds a 56% lead over Republican challenger Mike Minogue in a new UMass Amherst poll ahead of the November 3 election.

A UMass Amherst and WCVB poll released October 20 shows Maura Healey leading Republican challenger Mike Minogue by 25 percentage points two weeks before the November 3 election in Massachusetts. Healey currently holds 56% support among registered voters, while Minogue holds 31% and independent candidate Andrea James holds 5%.

Cost of living and taxes are the primary factors influencing voter decisions. While Healey maintains a lead in trust across most issues, 56% of respondents believe she broke her campaign pledge to cut taxes. Additionally, 52% of voters expressed a preference for divided government, suggesting a Republican governor would provide a necessary check on the Democratic supermajority in the state Legislature.

Support for ballot measures is strong for some initiatives, with 84% favoring the application of public records laws to the governor's office and Legislature, and 70% supporting the 2024 gun control law. Other measures, including the unionization of public defenders and the creation of an all-party primary system, remain closely contested.
