Tata Electronics Signs 16 MoUs to Build Semiconductor Ecosystem

During the Semicon India 2026 event in New Delhi, Tata Electronics signed 16 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with domestic and international firms to strengthen India's semiconductor supply chain. The partnerships cover front-end wafer fabrication, back-end assembly, and the localization of critical raw materials, involving partners from Europe, Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore.

A central component of this expansion is a comprehensive partnership with Dutch chipmaker Nexperia. The two companies will manufacture power control chips at Tata's ₹91,526 crore ($11 billion) plant in Dholera and collaborate on testing and assembly at a ₹27,120 crore packaging facility in Jagiroad. This deal follows a Dutch court decision that stripped the Chinese firm Wingtech of control over Nexperia after the Dutch state intervened in 2025 to prevent operations from moving to China.

Additional collaborations include agreements with Fujifilm for advanced materials and Besi for packaging equipment. On the second day of the event, Tata Electronics further expanded its network by signing deals with Sumitomo Chemical Ltd, INOX Air Products Ltd, Kelington Engineering Pte Ltd, and Enomoto Co. Ltd to localize high-purity gases and wet chemicals. Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw noted that the high level of international participation reflects increasing global interest in expanding semiconductor activities within India.
