Azerbaijan hosts the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum, gathering 160 experts from 53 countries to discuss media trust and AI's impact on journalism.
The 4th Shusha Global Media Forum convened on July 14 in Shusha, Azerbaijan, bringing together approximately 160 media professionals, experts, and government officials from 53 countries. Under the theme "The Role of Media in Promoting Peace: Restoring Truth and Building Trust," participants focused on the proliferation of disinformation and the influence of artificial intelligence on modern journalism.
Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, delivered the keynote address. He emphasized the symbolic importance of the host city and cautioned against the persistence of revanchist narratives within Armenian media. Hajiyev argued that societies must balance innovation and security with individual rights and parental responsibility in the current information era.
Panel discussions featured international representatives who explored the intersection of media diplomacy and public trust. Zaid Al Nawaiseh of Jordan highlighted the shift from information accessibility to information reliability, noting that trust relies on transparency and the audience's ability to evaluate sources.
