Thailand Launches Strategic Roadmap to Become Regional AI Hub
Minister Chaichanok Chidchob unveiled a strategic roadmap to establish Thailand as a regional center for trusted artificial intelligence and digital governance.
Chaichanok Chidchob, the Minister of Digital Economy and Society, introduced a strategic roadmap during the Huawei Thailand Digital & AI Summit 2026 to position Thailand as a regional hub for trusted artificial intelligence. The initiative focuses on developing infrastructure, enhancing trust, and building human capital by inviting international tech leaders to collaborate on the construction and governance of AI systems.
To support this goal, the Thai government is establishing a national AI governance sandbox. This framework is designed to implement global principles and protect citizens from digital threats, including deepfakes, online scams, and digital fraud.
Permanent Secretary Patchara Anuntasilpa stated that AI and digital technologies are essential for modernizing the Thai economy. He emphasized that the government intends to ensure long-term national prosperity through the expansion of research and the strengthening of digital infrastructure.
