Nigeria Democratic Congress Condemns Attacks on Members in Enugu

The Nigeria Democratic Congress condemned an unprovoked attack on its members during a grassroots meeting in Obuoffia Ward, Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State. In a statement issued Sunday, the party characterized the incident as part of a pattern of assaults by suspected state-sponsored thugs.

The party accused the All Progressives Congress in Enugu of being disturbed by the NDC's growing momentum. The NDC further alleged that security agencies have failed to respond adequately to attacks against opposition groups in Enugu and across the South-East, citing two previous incidents during town hall meetings in Imo State.

Demanding a thorough investigation and the prosecution of those responsible and their sponsors, the NDC asserted its intention to continue mobilizing for the 2027 general elections. The party stated that no amount of intimidation would silence its constitutionally guaranteed right to peaceful assembly.
