Prakash Raj Vows Nationwide Protests Against Election Commissioner
Actor-activist Prakash Raj pledged to lead peaceful nationwide protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over electoral roll revisions and government suppression of dissent.
Actor-activist Prakash Raj asserted that peaceful nationwide protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls will continue despite government efforts to suppress them. Speaking at a protest meeting at Manaveeyam Veedhi in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday, Raj characterized restrictions on demonstrations and the illegal detention of protesters as evidence of a dictatorship.
Raj stated that youth, farmers, labor unions, and student organizations would continue to demand answers from the Chief Election Commissioner. During the event, police intervened over the unauthorized use of a microphone, resulting in a minor tussle before the meeting was permitted to proceed.
Raj predicted the movement would grow larger than previous protests at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. He expressed belief that police and military personnel would eventually refuse to carry out orders to suppress citizens.
