Rising Costs Trigger Wave of Hudson Valley Restaurant Closures

Multiple restaurants across the Hudson Valley are closing due to rising operational, food, and energy costs, including James Beard-nominated Lil' Deb's Oasis.

A wave of restaurant closures has impacted the Hudson Valley region over the last 30 days, affecting establishments across both upper and lower counties. Business owners cite rising operational, food, and energy costs as primary drivers for the shutdowns.

Recent closures include the Chazz Palminteri Italian Restaurant in White Plains on September 30 and Chip City Cookies in West Nyack on October 2, the latter following a company-wide shutdown. Vela Kitchen in Pleasantville also shuttered this fall after nine years of operation. In Nyack, My Father's House Southern Cuisine closed on October 10.

High-profile losses include the James Beard-nominated Lil' Deb's Oasis in Hudson, which serves its final meals on October 12. While many locations have vanished, some spaces are being repurposed; in Beacon, Tito Santana Taqueria closed in late September and was replaced on October 1 by Tlahco Taqueria, which expanded from its Pleasant Valley location.
