Iran Demands IAEA Condemn U.S. Strikes on Nuclear Plant

The Government of Iran demanded on Monday that the International Atomic Energy Agency condemn military strikes carried out by the United States. During a press conference in Tehran, foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei stated that the strikes targeted the Darkhovin nuclear power plant, a facility currently under construction in the southwest of the country.

Baghaei characterized the military action as a "U.S. crime" and urged the IAEA Director General and the Board of Governors to clearly state their position on the matter. The Iranian government is seeking a formal condemnation from the UN nuclear watchdog in response to the targeting of the facility.
