Republican Russell Fry Wins Reelection in South Carolina 7th District
Republican Russell Fry secured a third term in the U.S. House of Representatives by defeating Democratic challenger John Vincent in South Carolina.
Russell Fry won reelection to South Carolina's 7th Congressional District on Tuesday, securing a third term in the U.S. House of Representatives. Unofficial results from the Associated Press indicate Fry received approximately 56% of the vote, with 168,054 votes compared to 128,645 for Democratic challenger John Vincent.
Fry campaigned on a platform of reducing federal spending, making 2017 tax cuts permanent, and expanding domestic energy production. His victory maintains Republican control of the district, which encompasses the Grand Strand and Pee Dee regions, including Horry, Georgetown, Marion, Dillon, Marlboro, Darlington, and Chesterfield counties, as well as part of Florence County.
John Vincent, a retired U.S. Navy command master chief, focused his campaign on household costs, health care, and the removal of the Social Security income cap. Despite these efforts, he was unable to overcome Fry's lead in the final tally.
